The CEO of IDFC First Bank, V Vaidyanathan, has gifted 7 lakh shares worth approximately Rs 5.5 crore to five individuals, including a retired Air Force officer and a child who lost a parent.
The act of generosity is part of Vaidyanathan's history of sharing his wealth with friends and those in need, with his gifts totaling around Rs 80 crore in shares so far.
Among the recipients was a retired Wing Commander, Sampath Kumar, who had lent Vaidyanathan Rs 1,000 years ago.
Unable to repay the loan before losing touch, Vaidyanathan compensated Kumar with shares worth about Rs 2 crore for medical treatment when they reconnected.
Other beneficiaries included individuals receiving shares for housing and financial security due to bereavement.
