AI-powered equity investment platform InvestorAi has raised Rs 80 crore (approximately $10 million) in a Series A funding round led by Ashish Kacholia, founder of Lucky Investment Managers, and his associates.

The startup will use the raised capital for scaling the business operations and adding new products.

Leveraging AI for investment solutions

Founded in 2018 by Akshaya Bhargava and Bruce Keith, InvestorAi leverages advanced AI models and robotics to generate stock recommendations tailored specifically for the Indian market.

These recommendations are then packaged into easy-to-use investment solutions that combine recommendation and delivery into a one-click user experience.

The startup said that its proprietary AI techniques and models use sophisticated methods such as computer vision to convert complex financial data into images (exponentially increasing prediction accuracy) and genetic algorithms and other techniques to create investment-ready equity baskets (model portfolios).

“Sophisticated AI has long been the exclusive preserve of big hedge funds like Renaissance and Citadel. We set up InvestorAi with the vision of bringing this advanced AI technology to retail investors and we pride ourselves in our 3 year track record of delivering strong investment returns that have consistently beaten the index by a big margin," said Akshaya Bhargava, Chairman and Co-Founder, InvestorAi.

InvestorAi claims that its platform has over 15 equity baskets employing diverse strategies. These baskets have consistently outperformed market indices, showing compelling returns since their inception, particularly over the last 12 months.

Integration with leading broking platforms

InvestorAi’s products are currently integrated into several leading broking platforms, including HDFC Securities, Geojit, PL, JM Financial Services, Yes Securities, IIFL Securities, 5Paisa, and Axis Securities.

“India’s retail investor base is currently around 150 million and growing at 3 million a month. The Indian stock market is expected to reach $10 trillion by 2030 from the current $4.8 trillion market cap. However, only 7% of households' income is invested in direct equities. This presents a large untapped market opportunity which can be leveraged by use of AI-led equity financing guidance," said Bruce Keith, who is also the CEO of InvestorAi.

"Our platform, InvestorAi, is the only platform in the Indian market that is multi-product, multi-broker and multi-manager and which also generates its own market-beating content. The AI models that power our platform have been trained using 14 years of stock market data and have delivered market beating returns consistently since 2022. Moreover, our AI models are integrated with a next generation delivery engine called InvestorAi YouTrade, which provides a one-click experience integrated within the broker’s own mobile or on-line platform," Keith added.

What did Ashish Kacholia say?

Ashish Kacholia, Founder, Lucky Investment Managers, said, “We have been long term investors in the Indian capital markets and have seen the wealth creation opportunities that it has to offer. InvestorAi’s platforms and the InvestorAi suite of products leverage technology in an innovative way and are directly aimed at helping the new generation of investors in starting their wealth creation journey in one of the fastest and best performing markets in the world."

"We believe that InvestorAi’s domain expertise in investments, products, innovative technology and a very experienced team really makes InvestorAi one of the true outliers in the wealthtech segment," said Kacholia.
