ByteEdge, a New Delhi-based enterprise AI startup, has raised $1.5 million in a funding round led by Japan’s TRTL Ventures, with participation from a group of global and Indian angel investors.
Founded in 2022 by Kamal Dutta and Akash Gupt, ByteEdge is tackling a challenge faced by most large organisations today: how to meaningfully deliver information to deskless workers, who make up the majority of the global workforce but are often excluded from conventional formats of knowledge sharing.
"The challenge that organisations face today is that all organisational knowledge exists in text documents—PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint, and so on," said Akash Gupt, cofounder of ByteEdge.
"Since this knowledge is stored in such formats, when it is delivered to the workforce—especially the frontline, where 70% of employees are deskless—it often goes unread and misunderstood."
The startup, which converts corporate documents into short, cinematic, multilingual videos, plans to use the capital to deepen its product development and expand operations across India.
Market presence
So far, ByteEdge has onboarded over 30 enterprise clients, including companies in financial services, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and ecommerce. Around 80–85% of its revenue comes from India, where its client base is concentrated.
However, the startup is now accelerating its international ambitions, with early forays into the US and the Middle East. To support this, it is planning to raise $3 million in additional funding within the next four to five months.
"This is a global problem. The biggest challenge in the Middle East is that there is no platform in those countries that can provide this kind of information in the local Arabic language, especially in video format. So we see a big potential there. The same applies to the US, which is generally a much larger market for this," Gupt added.
