What technologies are being introduced?

C3 Med-Tech’s innovative devices include the C3 Vision-Portable Slit Lamp, C3 Smartphone Fundus Camera, and C3 Slit Lamp Imaging System.

The startup said that these US FDA-approved devices offer a revolutionary approach to diagnosing eye diseases such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal infections, ocular surface disorders, and many other conditions that can lead to visual impairment and blindness.

Its upcoming product, the C3 Surgery Recording System, will provide a unique system for recording eye surgeries, thereby covering all facets of ophthalmic diagnostics from screening to surgical recording.

Expanding presence across India and globally

The capital raised will be utilized to expand C3 Med-Tech’s presence across India and globally. The startup plans to achieve this through increased marketing efforts, team expansion, and research and development for future products.

"Industrial Metal Powders is one of the largest custom surgical implant manufacturers in South East Asia. So we are confident that with their guidance and support we will be able to make a meaningful impact in the fight against avoidable blindness. We are also strengthening our leadership team  with an experienced management team, along with experienced and subject matter expert ophthalmologists to guide us for developing market relevant products," Nagarsheth said.

Reducing avoidable blindness

Founded by Yash Nagarsheth, C3 Med-Tech’s mission is to reduce avoidable blindness by providing affordable and portable eye screening devices.

Previously incubated at the India-Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, C3 Med-Tech has secured multiple grants, including the BIG’17 grant from the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Government, and multiple grants from the IIT Madras Incubation Cell.

Pune-based investment advisory firm INFSPL has also played a role in helping C3 secure the recent funding.

The fusion of telemedicine and AI technology in C3 Med-Tech’s devices is expected to enable precise diagnoses and prompt interventions, thus enhancing the chances of preventing visual impairment and blindness.
