Micro venture capital firm CapFort Ventures today announced the launch of its tech fund worth Rs 200 crore with the aim to back over 40 startups in the next two years.

The new fund, named 'The Category II AIF fund' was led by Abhimanyu Bisht, former CEO of Venture Catalysts, and Kavit Sutariya, founder of Hiraco Ventures and a seasoned angel investor.

According to the statement, the fund's investment strategy will be centred on pre-Series A stage startups, with a focus on businesses whose valuations fall within the Rs 100 crore range in sectors, including health techdeeptech, cleantech, B2B tech, and logistics.

The firm also said that it will make the first close of this fund by the end of this year. A green shoe option of Rs 100 crore has also been kept open to accommodate any additional interest from investors.

The team at CapFort expects the majority of the fund's capital to be raised domestically, with participation likely to come from institutional investors, family offices, and ultra-high net-worth individuals (HNIs).
