What does Dantech do?
Founded in April 2023 by Dr Shivashankar Mahadevan and Varun Gunaseelan, Dantech specialises in manufacturing a wide range of dental prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, and caps for dental implants.
These custom devices, often referred to as artificial teeth, are produced to meet each patient’s specific medical needs.
Dr Mahadevan is a dentist with decades of experience in custom dental prosthetics. On the other hand, Varun Gunaseelan, CEO and Managing Director, is a third-generation entrepreneur in the dental business.
Dantech's market presence
Dantech has two manufacturing units, one in Chennai and another in Denver, Colorado
The startup aims to use the raised capital to enhance its domestic production capabilities and further develop its global presence, particularly in North America, Europe, and Asia.
“Our journey began with a vision to revolutionise the dental industry, inspired by my grandfather’s (Dr. B.P. Rajan) unwavering dedication to providing exceptional care,” said Varun Gunaseelan.
“With this new funding, we are excited to accelerate our growth and bring our innovative products to more dentists worldwide.”
According to Gunaseelan, Dantech plans to increase production at its Chennai facility from 200 units per day to 1,000 units.
Diversification of product offerings
The funding will also support the diversification of Dantech’s product line. In addition to its existing offerings of crowns, bridges, and dental caps for implants, the startup plans to introduce new products, including dental implants, desensitizing gels, bleaching trays, and aligners.
The planned product line is aimed at expanding the existing offerings in the dental technology market, offering a broader range of solutions to meet the varying needs of dentists and patients globally.
“Dantech’s commitment to quality, innovation, and dentist-centric care sets it apart,” said Dr Gunaseelan Rajan, Chairman of the Board.
“We are confident that this investment will propel us to new heights and solidify our position as a leading player in the dental technology market.”
