Cherrapunji Craft Gin raises $1.2 million in pre-Series A round from Japanese investors

Raincheck Earth Co., the makers of Cherrapunji Craft Gin, has raised $1.2 million in a pre-Series A funding round from two prominent Japanese investors.

The round also saw participation from AngelList India Syndicate, who doubled down on their previous investments.

First Northeast Indian startup to attract foreign investment

This funding round marks a notable development for Cherrapunji Craft Gin, making it the first alcoholic beverage startup from Northeast India to attract foreign investment. The brand has gained international recognition, winning 13 global awards since its launch.

Cherrapunji Craft Gin is produced using rainwater and native botanicals from Northeast India, giving it a distinct flavour profile. The brand also uses sustainable packaging, including a stainless steel bottle that has received design awards.

Purpose of fundraising

With this new round of funding, Raincheck Earth Co. plans to accelerate its domestic and global expansion, increasing distribution and visibility for Cherrapunji Craft Gin in key markets.

The brand aims to scale its production capabilities while continuing to innovate with new products that reflect the rich biodiversity and culture of Northeast India.
