Climate risk and sustainability technology startup Resilience AI has secured $1 million in a seed funding round led by Kalaari Capital’s CXXO initiative, which supports ventures founded by women entrepreneurs.

Java Capital also took part in the funding.

Aiming to build climate resilience

Resilience AI will use the fresh capital to advance Resilience360, its flagship platform that provides end-to-end climate risk management solutions for both private and public enterprises.

Additionally, it intends to jointly develop solutions with customers, expand its market reach, and drive research-based innovation.

“The frequency and magnitude of extreme climate events have quadrupled over the past four decades, and conventional disaster response mechanisms are no longer sufficient,” said founder and CEO, Samhita R.

“Resilience AI was born out of the need for accurate and proactive climate risk management tools. The cost of inaction is far greater than the cost of preparedness.”

Leveraging AI and advanced analytics

Resilience360 uses machine learning and deep climate analytics to produce hyperlocal risk maps, automated diagnostics, and standardized climate action plans. These tools help businesses and governments prepare for and respond to extreme weather events like floods, heatwaves, cyclones, and earthquakes.

“Resilience AI is pioneering a new era in climate mitigation and adaptation,” said Vani Kola, managing director at Kalaari Capital. “With $118 billion in uninsured losses in 2023 alone, bridging the climate protection gap and forecasting climate patterns are critical for building resilience in our environment.”

Java Capital’s founding partner, Bhargavi V, also expressed support: “By combining hyperlocal data with AI, Resilience AI empowers organizations to proactively plan for and mitigate climate risks. We believe the company is poised to make a significant impact.”
