EV charging technology startup RoadGrid has raised Rs 12 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by early-stage investor Venture Catalysts.

The round also saw participation from several strategic and angel investors, including Kamal Puri of Skyline Group, IPV, FAAD Network, LetsVenture, Pace Group’s Vrinda Goyal, Haresh Patel of Arthanomics, and Maneesh Shrivastav of Alpha Value.

RoadGrid is working on building next generation EV charging infrastructure for India. The startup is developing patented universal EV chargers that can be used across different vehicle categories and charging needs. Alongside hardware, it is also building a cloud-based software platform and setting up a nationwide EV charging network.

“India’s EV transition is at an inflection point, and charging infrastructure will be the backbone of this transformation. RoadGrid is building a rare combination of deep-tech hardware, scalable software, and on-ground execution capability. Their patented universal chargers and integrated platform address a real market gap across vehicle categories and use cases,” said Dr Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, Founder and Managing Partner at Venture Catalysts.

RoadGrid currently operates in two main segments. One focuses on manufacturing and selling EV chargers to original equipment manufacturers. This includes offboard and fast DC chargers for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. The second segment involves setting up and operating public and commercial charging stations.

According to industry estimates, India may need nearly 30 lakh charging stations by 2030, compared to about 8,000 charging stations currently installed.

Founder and CEO Deepesh Shrinath said, “This Pre-Series round is a strong vote of confidence in RoadGrid technology and execution. With our VC partners, we will be scaling universal EV charging infrastructure that can become foundational to India’s EV ecosystem.”

CTO Shashank Narayan said the funding would help strengthen the company’s technology platform and expand integrations across the EV ecosystem. COO Chandraprakash Akotkar added that the capital would support faster and more reliable execution of charging infrastructure projects across India.

CMO Bharat Joshi said the funds would also be used to scale charging infrastructure designed as a multi-revenue urban platform combining energy, media, and retail.

RoadGrid follows a business model that combines Charging as a Service with direct sales to EV OEMs. The startup is currently operating charging stations in Indore, Noida, and at IOCL locations.

It also has active orders from utilities such as BSES, NPCL, and Navi Mumbai Transport. The startup has a confirmed pipeline of more than 1,000 chargers. It also supplies chargers directly to EV manufacturers and has a strong order book in this segment.
