Kaatil, an Indian chilli-focused hot condiments brand under Smerc Food & Beverages, has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round led by Mumbai-based Prajay Advisors.

The round also saw participation from Shivaan Ghai and Romil Ratra from the Graviss Group.

Kaatil's product offerings

Founded in 2021 by Sagar Merchant and Arjun Panwar, Kaatil offers a wide range of products, including hot sauces, hot ketchup, and chilli oils, all derived from Indian chilies.

The startup claims to have won the prestigious Great Taste Award 2024 from the Guild of Fine Foods in the U.K.

It sells products through multiple channels, including its own website, offline retail stores, and major online retailers like Amazon, Big Basket, and Nature’s Basket.

Notably, the startup has started selling its products on Amazon USA and in physical stores in Canada and New Zealand.

Focused on expansion

The startup plans to use the raised capital to expand its product line and scale its presence across various channels, including both national and international distribution avenues such as e-commerce platforms, rapid commerce options, and traditional offline retail stores.

It also has plans to establish an independent B2B supply arm aimed at serving restaurants, hotels, and cafés.
