Kidbea, a bamboo-based kids' fashion brand, has raised an undisclosed amount in a funding round led by notable figures, including Ritesh Malik, founder of Innov8, Nazara Technology founder Nitish Mittersain, and cardiovascular surgeon Dr Shriram Nene.

The funding is part of Kidbea's ongoing Series A round, which aims to raise $2 million.

What does Kidbea do?

Founded in 2021 by Swapnil Srivastav, Mohammad Hussain, and Aman Kumar Mahto, Kidbea focuses on creating skin-friendly, comfortable, and sustainable clothing for children.

The startup's product line includes spillproof and bamboo-based apparel, soft toys, and kids' accessories like feeding bottles and nibblers.

The brand has expanded its presence to major online platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and AJIO and is also available in over 30 partnered stores in premium children's hospitals. Additionally, It has extended its reach to international markets in the UAE, Bahrain, and Australia.

What is the purpose of fundraising?

The new funding will be used to expand Kidbea's team and invest in research and development (R&D) initiatives. 

"We are excited to welcome them as our valued investors and look forward to their support in transforming Kidbea into the number one bamboo plant-based global kidswear brand," added Srivastav.

Prior to this round, Kidbea raised $1 million in a pre-series A funding round in January 2024 led by Venture Catalysts with participation from Agility Ventures, BestVantage Investments, and notable individuals including Sandeep Agarwal, Upasana Agarwal, Ashok Bahadur, and Japanese actor Hiro Mizushima.

Aiming to become a Rs 500 crore brand

Kidbea aims to become a Rs 500 crore brand within the next three years. In addition to expanding its existing product lines, The startup plans to introduce two new sub-brands: a plant-based skincare brand for kids and a line of plant-based diapers and wet wipes. 

It competes with domestic players like FirstCry, Hopscotch, Cub McPaws, and Peppermint, as well as international brands such as PatPat and Primary.
