Project-based learning and skilling platform Kruu has raised Rs 1 crore in a bridge funding round. Founded in late 2022 by acclaimed musician and educator Anil Srinivasan, the Chennai-based startup connects middle and high school students with global university professors and industry professionals through short-term, guided projects designed to foster real-world skills.
The new capital infusion brings Kruu’s total pre-seed and bridge funding to $1.25 million and comes as the startup achieves profitability in its second year of operations.
Kruu’s distinctive model combines three-to-four-week project-based modules with personalized mentorship, scholarships, and internship opportunities. The platform has served more than 470,000 students to date, including over 130,000 paying users across India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and now the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Latin America, and other global markets.
The startup's approach has attracted corporate partnerships and institutional recognition. Following its presentation at the Department of Education’s international conference in the Philippines, Kruu received a formal endorsement from the country's education ministry, marking a key milestone in integrating its offerings with national education systems.
Anil Srinivasan said Kruu has always been about breaking barriers- for students, for educators, and for communities that deserve equal access to the best learning experiences. "This round of funding, coming from believers who know what transformative education can achieve, gives us the fuel to scale responsibly and keep innovating."
The startup was named one of the Top 10 most progressive ideas in education by The PIE and has been lauded for bridging the gap between traditional schooling and future-ready skills development.
