Pune-based sportstech startup Spolto has raised $1 million (approximately Rs 8.4 crore) in a seed funding round led by Andrew Johnston (co-founder and CEO of Sweden-based venture LetsShare), sports enthusiasts and other investors from India and Sweden.
The startup plans to use the raised capital to expand its services and reach more urban communities.
Who are the founders?
Founded in 2021 by Safa Soltani (CEO) and Divesh Nathani (COO), Spolto aims to expand sports access and development across urban India.
The startup's vision is to integrate sports into the daily lives of urban communities by providing easier access to various sports activities.
“At Spolto, we’re committed to expanding access to sports in urban India, helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds discover the joy and benefits of sports. This funding will enable us to grow our platform and empower more people to embrace an active lifestyle," the founders said.
Offering a wide range of sports
Spolto’s platform currently offers various sports, including badminton, tennis, swimming, and gymnastics. Additionally, the startup is also offering new-age games like pickleball to cater to the interests of new-age urban athletes.
It aspires to foster grassroots sports development and recreational skill-building, making sports an integral part of everyday life for people in urban .
Since its launch, Spolto has established partnerships with over 1,200 coaches and sports academies across Maharashtra, spanning 12 different sports.
