Ronin Wines making moonshine meads raises $675K from Rainmatter, others

The startup plans to use the raised funds to grow its presence in existing markets and scale the expansion of the business's honey and bee-keeping venture, the Moonshine Honey Project (MHP).

Pune-based Ronin Wines, a startup engaged in the production of Moonshine Meads, has raised $675,000 as part of its pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter Capital and Grip Invest, with participation from other investors, including Auxano Capital, Supermorpheus, and Anthill Capital. 

A cohort of new and existing angel investors also participated in the round.

The startup plans to use the raised funds to grow its presence in existing markets and scale the expansion of the business's honey and bee-keeping venture, the Moonshine Honey Project (MHP).

Established in 2018 by Nitin Vishwas and Rohan Rehani, Ronin Wines engages in the production of mead, which is obtained by fermenting honey with various fruits and spices.

Recently, It has branched out into bee conservation, launching the 'Bee Hotels' initiative in May of this year.

Nitin Vishwas, Co-founder of Ronin Wines, said, “We are very excited to have the two investors join us as we build Moonshine. Rainmatter's commitment to tackling climate change and supporting sustainability ties well with our mission to support the dwindling bee population in the country. With Grip Invest joining our team, we now have access to numerous alternate financing solutions that we will need as we scale our alcobev business.”

Ronin Wines has established its presence in key cities across India, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh. It has also reportedly extended its operations to the Middle East, specifically the UAE, and recently launched its brand in Australia and New Zealand.
