Stance Health, a startup focused on transforming musculoskeletal (MSK) care, has raised $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by General Catalyst.
The round also saw participation from Antler, DEVC, and EX Capital (Founders of Sword Health), as well as prominent angel investors such as Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy, co-founders of Swiggy, and Kulin Shah, co-founder of Onsurity.
Purpose of fundraising
Stance Health will use the raised capital to scale its structured, technology-driven MSK care model in India, addressing a traditionally unorganized market. The investment will support the development of its proprietary technology platform and the expansion of its team and multidisciplinary MSK centres across Bengaluru and other major Indian cities, the release notes.
By leveraging advanced analytics and personalized therapeutic interventions, the startup aims to create an integrated ecosystem that enhances the entire patient journey—from diagnosis to complete recovery.
"The fragmented nature of musculoskeletal care in India has long obstructed patient access to effective treatments," said Rohit Arora, Co-founder and CEO of Stance Health.
"This funding allows us to leverage state-of-the-art technology to broaden our reach and standardize care throughout the country. We believe musculoskeletal care needs the ethos of medical science but with a very strong consumer-focused understanding, all of it powered by technology. We thank our investors for sharing our vision and supporting our efforts."
Bridging the gaps in MSK care
Stance Health is focused on bridging the gaps in MSK care by combining medical expertise, rehabilitation specialists, and advanced diagnostics into a comprehensive, omnichannel care system.
The startup's precision-driven rehabilitation framework utilizes AI-based motion sensors, objective strength assessments, and structured treatment pathways to deliver consistent and measurable outcomes.
Stance said that patients follow a three-phase recovery process—reassess, restore, reignite, ensuring a structured approach that blends clinical expertise with technology for long-term recovery and return to sport.
Focused on increasing access to high-quality MSK care
Stance Health claims to have conducted over 12,000 sessions, achieving patient retention rates up to three times higher than the industry average.
The startup is now focused on expanding its reach to increase access to high-quality MSK care.
"Stance Health's model stands out in India by blending offline touchpoints with online engagement, setting it apart from approaches in developed markets. Rohit and Ninad's ability to combine clinical excellence with scalable, consumer-first execution is precisely what the Indian healthcare ecosystem needs. General Catalyst is happy to partner with them as they drive advancements in healthcare," said Anand Chandrasekaran, who led the pre-seed round while serving as Partner at General Catalyst.
"Stance Health's model not only improves patient access to structured treatment but also builds a scalable, tech-enabled framework that can set new industry benchmarks. We believe their approach can redefine how MSK disorders are managed in India," said Nitin Sharma, Partner at Antler.
