Uolo raises funding to grow AI adoption in schools across India

Uolo co-founders Pallav Pandey and Ankur Pandey

Indian education AI startup Uolo has raised $7 million in a pre-Series B funding round led by global EdTech fund Five Sigma, with participation from existing investors Blume Ventures, Morphosis, and Alicorn.

Founded in 2020 by Pallav Pandey and Ankur Pandey, Uolo partners with schools to integrate AI into the core learning journey as part of the school day and the student’s routine. The platform blends textbooks, school-defined curriculum paths, and AI-based learning support to help students stay on track and reinforce concepts beyond classroom hours.

It also enables schools to adopt blended and phygital models that are consistent with lesson plans, improving follow-through and learning continuity across environments.

Uolo claims that its AI powered programs serve more than 2,500 schools and support over 1.1 million paying students across India.

The startup will use the raised capital to expand school partnerships, strengthen GenAI based learning companions, and deepen its integrated learning ecosystem.

“Learning can sometimes be fun, but it is always hard. The real challenge is not content, it is adherence,” said Pallav Pandey, CEO of Uolo.

“Schools solve adherence during the day. With our AI powered products, we extend that structure into the home. We believe AI works best not as a separate experience, but as a companion to school education that helps students sustain habits and motivation beyond classroom hours.”

Peter Mobbs, Managing Partner at Five Sigma, said, “Education is among the largest AI application markets, but success depends on trust, school-based distribution, and alignment with the daily learning cycle of students. Uolo’s deep school partnerships and product execution position it strongly to build AI that becomes part of daily education and delivers real learning outcomes.”
