GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., an Essar venture and India's only dedicated green logistics operator of LNG and electric-powered heavy commercial vehicles, has raised $275 million in equity funding to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy trucking in the country.
The round includes a $20 million investment from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, marking one of the most significant capital infusions into India's climate-conscious logistics infrastructure to date.
Deploying 10,000 LNG and EV trucks
The investment will enable the deployment of over 10,000 liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electric trucks, alongside the development of a nationwide network comprising 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging hubs, and battery swapping facilities.
The company projects that the initiative will cut 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually—a vital step in decarbonizing a sector responsible for nearly 15% of India's total carbon footprint.

Market presence
GreenLine, founded with the mission to build sustainable alternatives in long-haul logistics, currently operates more than 650 LNG-powered trucks.
These vehicles—already serving clients in sectors like FMCG, e-commerce, cement, oil & gas, and chemicals—have collectively travelled over 38 million kilometres, resulting in the reduction of more than 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, the company said.
What distinguishes GreenLine's model is its cost parity with diesel, ensuring businesses can reduce emissions without additional logistical costs. The company claims its LNG-powered fleet emits up to 30% less CO₂ than its diesel counterparts, providing an attractive alternative for corporates pursuing decarbonization mandates.

India's trucking ecosystem, with more than 4 million vehicles on the road, is among the most carbon-intensive in the world. As the nation attempts to align with its climate pledges—aiming to cut emissions intensity of GDP by 45% by 2030—GreenLine's model offers a replicable path forward.
