A devastating fire broke out at an electric vehicle (EV) showroom near Dr. Rajkumar Road, Navrang, Rajajinagar, claiming the life of a young employee and destroying about 45 electric scooters.
According to media reports, the fire erupted around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and is believed to have been caused by a battery explosion during charging.
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Priya, worked as an accountant at the showroom, MY EV. She was a day away from celebrating her 21st birthday.
While other employees managed to escape, Priya was trapped in her cabin, overwhelmed by thick smoke and severe burns. Another individual sustained injuries during the incident.
Thick flames and smoke quickly consumed the premises, leading to panic as nearby shops and buildings were evacuated. Emergency response teams, including five firefighting units and a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) van, arrived promptly to contain the blaze. Authorities cordoned off the area to prevent further damage.
