Airbnb partners with Fly Homes

American rental marketplace giant Airbnb has announced a partnership with Fly Homes, the international student accommodation division of Noida-based Leverage Edu.

The partnership aims to raise awareness among students planning to study abroad about Airbnb as an option for short-term stays during their transition period, before they secure permanent housing in their host country.

With a growing number of Indian students pursuing education in countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and across the EU, Airbnb believes the partnership will offer essential support to ensure a smoother transition as they begin their academic journeys abroad.

According to recent data from the Ministry of External Affairs, over 1.33 million Indian students are currently pursuing higher education overseas.

A study by Redseer predicts that this number could reach 2 million by 2027, making India the largest source of international students globally. The growth trend highlights the importance of accessible and reliable short-term housing solutions, which Airbnb and Fly Homes aim to address.

The partnership, which is focused on key study destinations, aligns with the growing demand for short-term accommodation, especially during the period when students are waiting to finalize their permanent housing arrangements.

Supporting students during the transition period

Airbnb said that its wide range of short-term rentals will provide students with a comfortable and home-like environment during their transition to permanent housing.

“Through this partnership with Leverage Edu, we aim to build consideration for Airbnb as a convenient option for students travelling abroad for their education and provide them short-term stays during the transitional period,” said Amanpreet Bajaj, General Manager, Airbnb India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

“This could be in the pre phase, when they are assessing or evaluating universities or even when they finally arrive in the host country and may still be in the process of  finalising their permanent housing. Our diverse range of listings can provide a comfortable, home-like environment during this crucial period.”

The partnership will feature targeted campaigns on Leverage Edu’s platforms, where students will be informed about Airbnb’s rental options at various stages of the university application process.

These efforts aim to ease the students’ planning and ensure that they have accommodation in place upon arrival in their host country, the release notes.

Fly Homes' market presence

Fly Homes offers a comprehensive accommodation service for international students, providing access to over 1.5 million rooms in 30 countries. It is the international student accommodation arm of Leverage Edu.

“Excited to be partnering with Airbnb, a platform we have long admired, on an opportunity that would make the touchdown-experience of Leverage Edu’s students all across much better. This partnership is a beginning, it represents an opportunity for students to figure out their short-term housing much in advance, seamlessly on our mobile app,” said Akshay Chaturvedi, Founder & CEO of Leverage Edu & Fly Homes.

The partnership is expected to reach approximately 15,000 students in the coming year through Leverage Edu’s app and global experience centers.

By integrating Airbnb’s short-term rental options into the Fly Homes platform, students will have more flexibility and peace of mind during the critical transitional phase of their overseas education experience.
