Ecommerce giant Amazon's India arm's head, Manish Tiwary, has resigned after 8 years. According to the company's spokesperson, he has decided to pursue an opportunity outside the company.
Tiwary, who became the country manager in late 2020, will continue with Amazon until October to ensure a smooth transition.
Manish Tiwary started his career as a Brand Manager at Hindustan Unilever in May 1996, and over the years, he took on various roles that involved managing sales and strategy. In January 2004, he became the Head of Modern Trade at HUL.
In 2007, Tiwary was appointed General Manager for North India and Head of the Customer Development Center of Excellence at Hindustan Unilever.
He later moved to the Gulf region as the Managing Director of Unilever Gulf and Vice President of Customer Development for North Africa & Middle East from 2014 to 2016, where he managed operations across multiple countries.
India remains a key market for Amazon
“Manish Tiwary, Country Manager for Amazon India, has decided to pursue an opportunity outside of the company. Manish’s leadership over the last eight years has been instrumental in delivering for customers and sellers, making Amazon.in the preferred marketplace in India,” an Amazon spokesperson said.
“India is an important priority for Amazon. We are excited by the momentum and business results we have already achieved, and we are even more optimistic about the significant opportunities ahead to innovate on behalf of our customers and digitally transform lives and livelihoods. Amit Agarwal, SVP India and Emerging Markets, will remain closely involved with the Amazon.in team, guiding its strong bench of leaders to deliver on this opportunity,” the spokesperson added.
