Report: Amazon India on Saturday said, they will be organizing a virtual 'Handicraft Mela' from September 26 to October 10 to support 800,000+ artisans who are associated with the 1500+ Amazon India handicraft product sellers.

With this virtual event, Amazon India aims to generate demands for handicraft products that reflect the Indian heritage art and culture.

"Over 800,000+ artisans and weavers associated with 1,500 Amazon India Karigar sellers and 17 government emporiums including Tantuja, Harit Khadi, Tribes India, and national-level artisans organizations like Craftmark and Dastkari Haat Samiti will benefit from this mela," said, Amazon India in a statement.

According to the reports, Amazon India will be showcasing 55,000 unique handicraft products that will help the customers to discover and purchase from the artisans and weavers that will benefit the sellers.

Amazon will also introduce sections like handloom zone, handicrafts home decor, kitchen items, handmade toys, handcrafted festive collection, and others.

Earlier in 2016, Amazon India had launched the Karigar Program as part of its efforts to bring handicraft products shoppable online. Since then, Amazon India has onboarded more than 3,000 master weavers, co-operatives, artisans, and government organizations under various ministries to help artisans sell online.
