Former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover has successfully trademarked his name, as revealed by Delhi High Court lawyer Aditi Tuteja, who specializes in intellectual property rights and trademarks.

Tuteja shared the trademark certificate on LinkedIn, confirming that Grover's name has been officially registered as intellectual property under class 41 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999.

"After navigating legal landscapes, we achieved this significant milestone. This trademark not only strengthens their brand identity but also expand their commercial reach beyond entertainment," she wrote.

Tuteja noted that celebrity trademarks are a complex issue in India. "The trademarks Act,1999 doesn’t explicitly address them, but celebrities can leverage existing laws and court rulings to protect their name and image," she said.

Interestingly, celebrities like Alia Bhatt, SRK, Kajol, Ajay Devgan and Amitabh Bachchan have successfully trademarked their name.

Netizens reaction

The news quickly went viral, sparking reactions from netizens. Some users humorously referred to Grover's famous catchphrases from the show, with one commenting, "You should have trademarked your dialogue 'Ye sab doglapan hai'."

"yahi bakwas karte raho," another wrote.

"Now sony television have to pay royalties for using the name of ashneer sir and tagging him in YouTube videos for the views 😄. nice step sir. naam ke bhi paise milne chaiye," a third said.

"How does this affect the people with existing names in the country, and what if they wish to use their own names for any purpose they intend to," a fourth asked.

"To all future Grover parents, do not name your kids as Ashneer anymore :)" a fifth added.
