Bengaluur-based e-commerce unicorn Meesho has announced the appointment of four new independent directors to its board.

The latest appointments aim to strengthen the company's governance and strategic direction as it continues to grow in the competitive e-commerce landscape in India.

The new board members are Hari S Bhartia, Kalpana Morparia, Rohit Bhagat, and Surojit Chatterjee.

"As we embark on the next phase of growth, I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Surojit Chatterjee, Kalpana Morparia, Rohit Bhagat, and Hari S. Bhartia as Independent Directors to Meesho's Board," said Meesho’s Founder and CEO, Vidit Aatrey.

New Appointments

Hari S Bhartia, the Founder and Co-Chairman of Jubilant Bhartia Group, brings a wealth of experience across various sectors.

He serves as the Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Jubilant Pharmova Ltd and Co-Chairman of Jubilant Ingrevia Ltd and Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. His extensive background in entrepreneurship and governance is expected to be invaluable to Meesho’s strategic goals.

Kalpana Morparia, with over 45 years of experience in India’s financial sector, has held prominent positions such as Chairman of South and South East Asia at JP Morgan.

She played a pivotal role in ICICI Bank's capital raising and merger. Her expertise in finance and governance will help guide Meesho’s financial strategies and operations.

Rohit Bhagat, the non-executive Chairman of PhonePe, has a robust background in financial services, fintech, and tech-enabled services.

His previous roles include leadership positions at BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors. Bhagat’s experience will be crucial in navigating the financial and technological aspects of Meesho’s growth.

Surojit Chatterjee, the CEO of the San Francisco-based AI company Ema, has a strong background in technology and product development.

He played a significant role in Coinbase’s IPO and scaled Google Mobile Ads and Google Shopping into multi-billion-dollar businesses. Chatterjee’s technological expertise will aid Meesho in leveraging AI and technology for its future initiatives.

The new board members will provide essential guidance in technology, finance, entrepreneurship, and governance.
