A Bengaluru man was fired from his job after a case was registered against him for a message threatening to throw acid on a woman over her ‘choice of clothes.’

The woman's husband, Shahbaz Ansar, reported that the accused, Nikith Shetty, had issued the threat due to his disapproval of her attire.

"This person is threatening to throw acid on my wife's face for her choice of clothes. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent any incident from happening," Ansar, a journalist, said in a post on X, tagging the police in Karnataka.

Shahbaz tagged Bengaluru police, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar in the post.

Shahbaz also shared a screenshot of Shetty's LinkedIn profile, revealing his employment status.

"The person who was threatening my wife with acid attack works for Etios digital services. I don't think women are safe in this organisation," he wrote.

Responding to Shahbaz's post, Bengaluru City Police advised him to lodge a complaint at his nearest police station.

Company fires Nikith Shetty

As the post gained traction on social media, netizens traced Shetty to his workplace.

The company, Etios Services, responded swiftly, confirming that Shetty had been dismissed and that a case had been filed against him.

“The man who threatened my wife Khyati Shree with an acid attack lost his job. The company acted promptly and fired him. Thanks to everyone who made this happen,” Shahbaz said.

"We are deeply saddened to address a serious incident involving one of our employees, Nikith Shetty, who made a threatening statement regarding another individual’s choice of clothing. This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and goes against the core values we uphold at Etios Services," the company said.

"As a company committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment, we have taken immediate action. Nikith's employment has been terminated for a period of five years, and we have filed a case against him to ensure accountability for his actions."
