BharatPe has announced the launch of ‘Pay Later with BharatPe’, a credit-on-UPI product developed in partnership with YES Bank and powered by the UPI developer NPCI, as the fintech firm expands its push to widen access to short-term digital credit for consumers and merchants across India.
The new offering allows users to make payments using a pre-approved credit line across all UPI merchant touchpoints. This includes scanning any UPI QR code, shopping online, paying utility bills, or completing mobile and DTH recharges through the BharatPe app.
According to BharatPe, ‘Pay Later with BharatPe’ provides instant UPI-linked credit with no paperwork or delays. Users can spend daily and repay monthly, either in full or through flexible EMIs ranging from three to 12 months. The facility offers up to 45 days of interest-free credit, with limits refreshed upon repayment. Customers can track usage, available limits, repayments, and EMIs directly within the app, and complete repayments securely via UPI.
Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe, said credit penetration in India remains limited, especially among small merchants and first-time borrowers.
“With ‘Pay Later with BharatPe’, we are unlocking a massive opportunity to deliver a compliant, scalable, and convenient credit solution that addresses both merchants’ and consumers’ spending needs,” he said.
Anil Singh, country head, credit cards and merchant acquiring at YES Bank, said the bank will leverage its digital onboarding and underwriting capabilities to serve customers originating from the BharatPe platform and beyond.
As part of the offering, users also gain access to BharatPe UPI Rewards, under which they earn guaranteed rewards in the form of Zillion coins on transactions carried out through the BharatPe UPI app. These coins can be redeemed for brand vouchers, products, or for paying utility bills.
