Fintech firm BharatPe launches ‘Shield’ to secure UPI payments in India

Indian fintech firm BharatPe has introduced 'Shield,' a robust fraud protection plan designed to safeguard digital transactions.

Shield aims to enhance the security of BharatPe's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services while providing users with a secure payment experience.  

Complimentary fraud protection for new users  

The BharatPe Shield includes an introductory 30-day complimentary fraud protection plan for users making their first UPI transactions through the BharatPe app.

This free service protects transactions up to Rs 5,000. Following the trial, users can continue to enjoy the benefits of Shield at an affordable subscription fee of Rs 19 per month.

Shield covers a range of risks, including computer fraud, phishing, and unauthorized transactions resulting from phone theft.

The service’s unique pre-reporting coverage allows claims for losses incurred up to 10 days before the fraud is reported.
