Ola Electric leads the electric two-wheeler industry with a 25% market share

Bengaluru-based Ola Electric has reported a 25% market share in India’s electric two-wheeler segment for the month of January 2025, as the Bhavish Aggarwal-led company registered 24,341 units (according to VAHAN data).

Bolstered by a rapidly expanding sales and service network of 4,000 stores nationwide, Ola saw a 76.4% jump in month-on-month registrations.

Ola's recent launch of Gen 3 portfolio

A company spokesperson called the results “an impressive start to the year,” underscoring the momentum sparked by Ola’s recently launched Gen 3 portfolio.

The new lineup includes the flagship S1 Pro+ variants in 5.3kWh and 4kWh, priced at Rs 1,69,999 and Rs 1,54,999 respectively, along with S1 Pro models at Rs 1,34,999 (4kWh) and Rs 1,14,999 (3kWh). The mass-market S1 X range begins at Rs 79,999 for the 2kWh version, scaling up to Rs 99,999 for 4kWh, while an S1 X+ at Rs 1,07,999 further bridges performance and affordability.

"With our diverse EV propositions across premium and mass-market segments and expansion of our sales network beyond tier-1 and tier-2 cities, Ola Electric will continue to lead India’s transition towards #EndICEAge," the company spokesperson added.

Company to continue to offer Gen 2 scooters

Ola is also continuing to offer its Gen 2 scooters at discounts up to Rs 35,000, with pricing starting at Rs 1,14,999 for the S1 Pro and ranging down to Rs 69,999 for the S1 X (2kWh).

According to the company, Gen 3 models now incorporate mid-drive motors with chain drives, integrated motor control units for better efficiency, and up to 20% more peak power compared to Gen 2.

The latest lineup also introduces a dual ABS system — a first for Indian EV scooters — and a patented brake-by-wire feature that intelligently switches between regenerative and mechanical braking, improving safety and enhancing energy recovery by 15%.

Ola Electric says it will roll out its MoveOS 5 beta in mid-February, bringing new features like a smartwatch app, Smart Park, Road Trip Mode (powered by Ola Maps), Live Location Sharing and Emergency SOS.

The launch follows last year’s introduction of the Gig and S1 Z range, which includes removable battery options for personal and commercial applications, as well as the unveiling of Ola’s Roadster motorcycle series, offering battery capacities up to 16kWh.
