"Celebrating Ethereum’s eighth birthday with Vitalik Buterin with Indian 'Ghever' as a cake in Bengaluru. Happy Birthday, Ethereum!" Polygon COO Sandeep Nailwal, tweeted.

Vitalik Buterin, along with Ethereum's other founders, has watched Ethereum grow rapidly since it started. It's now second only to Bitcoin in market size.

Ethereum is more than just a digital currency - it's a system that lets people build unchangeable, decentralized apps on it. This has led to the creation of DeFi, or decentralized finance apps, that let people handle financial transactions without needing a middleman like a bank or exchange.
