Swiggy noted that “2.8 million first-time users went straight for biryani,” underscoring the dish’s wide-reaching appeal.

Dosa secures second spot

Close behind biryani, dosa held its own with 23 million orders in 2024, making it another Indian favourite. For breakfast, in particular, Swiggy delivered 8.5 million dosas and 7.8 million idlis.
Bengaluru: 2.5 million masala dosas ordered.
Other regional hits: Chole (Delhi), Aloo parantha (Chandigarh), and Kachori (Kolkata).

Pasta obsession in Bengaluru

In a surprising twist, a single consumer in Bengaluru spent **Rs 49,900** on pasta this year, with nearly 55 Alfredo dishes, 40 mac & cheese plates, and 30 spaghetti servings. This highlights a growing appetite for global cuisines, especially in India’s tech hub.

Dinner: The “Bahubali” of mealtimes

Swiggy reports that dinner orders reached 215 million in 2024—about 29% higher than lunch. The platform’s delivery partners collectively travelled 1.96 billion kilometres to bring meals to customers.

Top performing delivery partners include Mumbai’s Kapil Kumar Pandey with 10,703 orders and Coimbatore’s Kaleeswari M with 6,658 orders this year.

Swiggy’s 10-minute delivery service, Bolt, clocked record speeds of 3 minutes for popular items like burgers, cakes, and ice creams in cities such as Nashik, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.

Snack time favourites

Among the snacks, chicken rolls topped the list with 2.48 million orders, followed by chicken momos (1.63 million) and potato fries (1.3 million). These choices reflect India’s growing preference for quick bites that satisfy hunger at any time of day.

Late-Night cravings

Chicken burgers emerged as the go-to midnight snack, with 1.84 million orders placed between midnight and 2 a.m. However, the award for the most unusual late-night request goes to a Delhi user who once ordered 250 onion pizzas in a single go.

Sweet endings

When it comes to desserts, India displayed a clear favourite:

Choco lava cake: 3.6 million plates ordered, making it the “dessert king”.
Chocolate truffle cake: 2.27 million plates.

With a clear sweet tooth, millions of Indians wrapped up their meals on a decadent note.

Swiggy Dineout on the rise
