He shared screenshots from the Blinkit app to support his claim, including one showing he earned Rs 15.83 for his final delivery. Based on the figures, his average earnings worked out to about Rs 52 an hour.
After the video gained traction, Thapliyal posted additional updates highlighting fluctuations in his income. In another video recorded in October, he reported earning Rs 1,202 after completing 32 orders in about 11 hours.
Describing the uneven nature of gig work, Thapliyal said earnings depend heavily on order volume. On days with high demand, he said, daily income can range between Rs 1,600 and Rs 2,000, while on slower days it can be difficult to earn even RS 1,000.
Netizens reaction
The video, which has received over 128,000 likes and 2,800 comments, sparked widespread concerns about earnings and the safety of delivery agents.
"This is really sad! Koi aur kaam kar lo …issey toh jyada hi banaoge," a user suggested.
"who's going to take care of your employees who delivers the goods in a blink of an eye. Treat your workers with fairness," another wrote, while tagging Blinkit's Instagram account.
"This not development this is exploitation of cheap human labour," a third expressed.
