The Bangalore based startup Cure.fit is now all set to stretch their company into different geographical areas. After getting the title of India's top digital-fitness startup they are ready to expand into the US market.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Global expansion has been one of the key goals of Cure.fit. We originally planned to expand after five years, but looking to the current opportunity and our growth, we decided to expand into the US, said, the company co-founder Mukesh Bansal, chief executive of the startup.
The company officials said the COVID-19 pandemic has boosted its startup growth in a very exponential manner. Before lockdown, our primary focus was in delivering the physical fitness service but the current lockdown has pushed us to move our services in a digital platform as well. said, Co-founder Mukesh Bansal.
Cure.fit works on the Freemium model, Which offers both free and premium services to its customers. Moreover, Cure.fit has began beta testing on their application in the US market last month.
Additionally, Bansal a serial entrepreneur who co-founded the e-commerce startup Myntra said that the app is downloaded more than 12,000 times in iOS last month. This clearly shows the opportunity growth of this startup in the US.
As of now, The startup is working on the free model (means service at no charge) in the US to increase their brand authenticity but sooner they will introduce different premium plans for their customers. said, Bansal.
Fitness is a big industry in India, and cure.fit was one of the startups who disrupted the traditional franchises of the fitness gym with its power and brand services. said, Jayanth Kolla, chief analyst at consultancy group Convergence Catalyst.
The company is not only in fitness industry, Cure.fit has offerce various services in India like food delivery eat.fit which introduced and hooked millennials to healthy habits and food, said Kolla.
Though the US market is going to give the opportunity to cure.fit but at the same time, it would be equally challenging for the India fitness startups to gain inroads in the more developed and mature market like US.
“With ambiguity on normalcy and reopening of gyms across the country anytime soon, we have had to take necessary measures to ensure business continuity. We are ensuring that the impacted employees are taken care of and we plan to rehire them once the gyms are reopened and our business gets back on track,” said Bansal.
