Goldman Sachs backed content and news aggregator app Dailyhunt launched JOSH made in India short video app has surpassed 5 million + downloads in just 15 days. After the ban of 59 Chinese apps including the most popular short video app/platform TikTok. All the major content creation companies were having the fear of missing out on the opportunity growth in the content space.

Ever since the Tiktok banned in India, every major content space company (Gaana, Dailyhunt, Instagram, MX Player, Sharechat, etc.) started launching their short video app/platform to make alternatives available of the Tiktok app. Also growth as well.

According to sensor tower data, the MX player is having 100 million+ MAU. which is more than Gaana (45 million), while Sharechat and Dailyhunt having 60 and 50 million+ monthly active users. Though getting this much amount of downloads isn't a challenging task for these content space companies as they were having this much amount of users on their existing platform. Because it's easy converting the users to download but retaining them on the platform is much harder.

With this in mind, every major Tiktok alternative is using made in India marketing strategies to make their app/platform successful. Besides these well-grown content space companies, A group of apps including Chingari, Trell, Mitron, TikTik is also in the ground to compete with these giant content space companies.

Needless to say just after the ban on Tiktok, these apps noticed a spurt on their downloads. Also, the old player in this race Roposo got 22 million new users just after the ban of tiktok. Whereas Moj crossed 10 million downloads within the first week of its launch.

To Conclude: Every major content space company is trying to grow its short video app/platform but what would happen if Tiktok makes a comeback in India?
