Jet Media Network, a data-driven digital publishing company aiming to change the way fans interact with the world's biggest celebrities, has raised $2.5 million in a seed funding round led by Los Angeles Media Fund and joined by 10X Capital, Gaingels, JetSynthesys, Spivy Private Capital, and Equinox Systems.
This development comes as Jet Media Network prepares to launch its first mobile app, a collaboration with Ronaldinho, former Brazil, Barcelona, and AC Milan football (soccer) superstar. The platform will provide exclusive content, auctions, social media aggregation, and e-commerce, as well as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to a statement, Jet Media Network will use the raised funding to expand its influencer base beyond athletes to add musicians, actors, gamers, and public influencers apart from investing in product development.
Jet Media Network, which was launched last year, continues to build a pipeline of high-profile athletes and celebrities with the goal of gaining more "ownership" of their fans and capitalizing on the creator economy through bespoke mobile destinations that provide the ultimate direct-to-fan (DTF) experience.
The platform basically creates communities of fans where users can select the interest group and can view relevant content.
“The investment demonstrates the shift in direction and change in appetite for celebrities to have greater ownership over their brand and content, and in essence, to become their own publisher. It also demonstrates the belief that Jet Media Network has the right technology, strategy, and leadership in place to succeed," said Jesper Schertiger, CEO & Co-Founder of Jet Media Network.
