The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recently announced a partnership with HCLSoftware, a global software solutions leader, as part of its Manufacturing Incubation Initiative.
This initiative aims to drive India’s startup manufacturing ecosystem by fostering collaboration between the government and corporate entities, particularly in the area of manufacturing innovation.
The announcement was made at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi.
Boosting startup innovation under startup India
DPIIT’s collaboration with HCLSoftware falls under the umbrella of the Startup India initiative, which aims to create an environment where industry players play a key role in nurturing new manufacturing businesses.
So far, DPIIT has signed over 80 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various industry stakeholders, forming a foundation for startups to gain critical industry support.
Startups in this program will benefit from access to HCLSoftware’s HCL Sync program, providing them with global market exposure and an opportunity to showcase their products internationally.
Aligning with the Indian government's objective
The partnership aligns with the Indian government’s goal of making the country a major production hub. This initiative has three main aims: first, to encourage the development of Indian intellectual property by helping startups create unique, India-specific products and solutions; second, to improve product quality by providing startups with the tools and knowledge needed to meet global standards; and third, to build a strong manufacturing ecosystem by connecting startups with suppliers to form a complete manufacturing value chain.
Leadership comments
DPIIT Joint Secretary, Sanjiv Singh, emphasized the importance of this partnership in establishing a sustainable manufacturing ecosystem, highlighting how HCLSoftware’s expertise complements DPIIT’s vision.
Singh noted that this collaboration would allow Indian innovation to thrive, helping local businesses gain a stronger foothold globally.
He reiterated DPIIT’s commitment to promoting the manufacturing ecosystem, aiming to make India a major player on the global stage through initiatives like Startup India.
Dr. Sumeet K. Jarangal, Director of Startup India, stated that the partnership with HCLSoftware aims to empower Indian startups by providing them with access to advanced digital technologies and global markets.
Dr. Jarangal remarked that this support would foster growth within the sector, enabling manufacturing startups to excel in design, development, and marketing.
