Dream11 pivots from gaming to a sports-entertainment platform

Dream11 will exit the online gaming segment and pivot to the growing live sports business in India, cofounder Harsh Jain said.

Jain said the company will now operate as a sports entertainment platform and aims to become a second screen for viewers watching live matches. He said the platform will allow users to watch games along with creators, and that the new app will be available on the App Store and Play Store within the next 24 hours.

Advertisements will remain available on the new platform. A paid ad free version is planned for a later stage. Dream11 is onboarding creators and influencers and Jain said they will receive the lion’s share of the revenue. He added that more creators will join the platform over time.

Jain also indicated that Dream11 will go through staff restructuring. He said the company has nearly 1,000 employees today but the new business will require only around 200 people. The remaining employees are expected to move to other companies within the Dream Sports ecosystem. These include Dream Money, Fancode, Dream Sports AI and Dream Cricket.

The transition follows major changes in the regulatory landscape. In October, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 came into effect and banned real money based gaming while supporting e-sports and online social games. The law prohibits advertising or endorsements of platforms that facilitate online games involving monetary stakes. It also proposed restrictions on banks and non banking financial institutions from processing payments linked to real money gaming.

Dream Sports, the parent company, is also diversifying its portfolio. It recently launched Dream Money, a personal finance app that lets users invest in digital gold, open fixed deposits and track expenses and assets.
