E-commerce major Amazon introduced the prime day sale this August, an annual event for paid subscribers to its prime service. It was said that this sale has surpassed the numbers compared to the previous year's Diwali sale.

The sale was held from August 6-7, reportedly saw products worth more than $600 million (Rs4,560 crores) were sold during the prime day sale, most of the product demand was led by-products like electronics, smartphones, including small and large appliances.

Furthermore, Demand for the products is likely to get revived after the COVID-19 lockdown.

“Prime Day 2020 was the biggest 48 hours ever for small and medium sellers on Amazon India. We had the highest participation of nearly 1 lakh sellers, who received orders from 97% of India’s pin codes,” said, Amazon India head Amit Agarwal.

Moreover, In an interview, Amazon India's head claimed that nearly 4000 small sellers recorded sales of more than $1 million, while 209 sellers recorded sales worth more than $10 million. Amazon claimed that they are having more than 90,000 sellers this year.

Earlier this year, Due to lockdown, E-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart sales dropped because of delivery restrictions, only non-essentials deliveries were allowed.

According to the SaaS e-commerce platform Unicommerce, the E-commerce sector has recovered 90% of its sales due to pre-lockdown volume. While the large recovery has been led by electronics and fashion products.

Furthermore, TOI confirmed most of the product sales were dominated by electronic products like newly launched smartphones, earphones, etc.
