Ecommerce company Flipkart announces expansion of its supply chain infrastructure in Haryana

Walmart-owned ecommerce marketplace Flipkart has announced the expansion of its supply chain network in Haryana by adding four additional facilities ahead of the forthcoming festive season.

These FC centres are located in Sankpa, Yakubpur, Kulana, and Rewari, with a total area of more than 12 lakh square feet and a storage capacity of over 30 lakh cubic feet.

According to the company, The expansion of its supply chain network would create 12,000 employment opportunities, which would be another positive move by the firm for 13,000 vendors from the state would receive additional help to reach lakhs of new clients across the country.

Flipkart claims that the additional fulfillment centers (warehouses) would help to build deeper capabilities to support thousands of sellers, MSMEs, and small farmers from around the state in meeting rising customer demand, creating more jobs and allowing customers to collect speedier delivery.

These newly launched fulfillment centers will collect products from vendors all around the region, process and pack them, and then distribute them to buyers via sortation centers and delivery hubs. Large appliances, furniture, mobile phones, clothes, and electronics are among the things available for buyers in Sankpa, Yakubpur, Kulana, and Rewari.

Speaking on the development, Sh. Vikas Gupta Director, General Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of Haryana, said ''I am confident that Flipkart’s continued investment in Haryana will further help thousands of small and medium enterprises from the state to expand their economic activity while also helping create thousands of additional jobs in the state.”

"Haryana is an attractive investment destination in the country and Flipkart is committed to creating opportunities for sellers, MSMEs, and artisans from the state while providing a seamless e-commerce experience to millions of customers from the state, he added.

Following the expansion, Flipkart now has 17 fulfillment centers scattered across Binola, Bilaspur, Luhari, Ballabgarh, and Farrukhnagar, covering 44 lakh square feet and employing over 22,000 people directly and indirectly.

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, said, “As a homegrown e-commerce marketplace platform, we are proud to be at the forefront of creating value for all our stakeholders including sellers, Kiranas, customers, partners, and communities. Haryana has one of our deepest investments with specialized facilities for large appliances, non-large (including mobiles, apparel), grocery, and furniture and has played a pivotal role in connecting thousands of sellers from the state to a national market."

Earlier this month, Flipkart had signed an MoU with the Haryana Government's Directorate of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to help MSMEs expand their domestic and worldwide markets through Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Program (Walmart Vriddhi).
