Edtech unicorn upGrad has appointed Amit Mehta as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). He will formally assume the role on 8th October 2024.

 Following a successful career at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), where he served in various HR leadership roles, Amit will lead and turbocharge upGrad’s people strategy globally, driving organization effectiveness, talent development, and performance management initiatives.

His expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion in the next phase of growth for the brand.

Before joining upGrad, Amit was heading the HR function for HUL’s Home Care division and drove strategic talent development and growth interventions as Talent & Organization Director for Unilever’s South Asia markets.

Over the last five years, he has accelerated HUL’s initiatives to strengthen its position as an Employer of Choice and spearheaded Leadership Development & People Analytics for the company.

His diverse expertise spans HR Business Partnership for HUL’s Sales & Marketing functions, strategic advisory as Chief of Staff to the CHRO, and crafting people strategies for Unilever’s India, Sri Lanka, and European markets; positioning him competently skilled to drive talent growth and organization excellence at upGrad.

Amit holds an MBA in HR from XLRI Jamshedpur and a B.Tech in Information Technology from VJTI Mumbai.
