Billionaire Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) experienced its second major outage within 24 hours, leaving thousands of users unable to access key features on Saturday.

According to outage tracking site Downdetector, more than 25,000 users in the United States reported issues ranging from timeline failures to login errors.

The disruption began around 8:39 a.m. EDT (6:09 p.m. IST), affecting core functions such as the ‘For You’ feed, ‘Following’ tab, and notifications panel. Indian users also reported widespread difficulties using the platform, including problems refreshing the feed and loading the site or app altogether.

The incident adds to a growing list of technical problems that have plagued the platform since Musk’s $44 billion acquisition in 2022. In fact, earlier this week, X suffered another outage, which was attributed to a fire at a leased data center in Hillsboro, Oregon. That event reportedly resulted in nearly 6,000 outage reports globally.

X’s infrastructure has seen significant shifts since Musk took over. In late 2022, the company shut down its Sacramento data center, relocating more than 2,500 server racks to facilities in Portland and Atlanta

X is a microblogging and social networking platform that allows users to post and interact with short-form content. It has millions of daily active users worldwide and is accessible via mobile apps and web browsers. Since Elon Musk acquired it, the platform has undergone significant changes in both branding and backend architecture.
