Elon Musk’s X hit by fresh global outage; thousands of users affected

Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) experienced a widespread outage on Monday evening, February 16, leaving thousands of users unable to access the app or load their feeds worldwide.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, many users reported problems in logging in, posting messages, and refreshing their timelines. Complaints increased rapidly on monitoring platforms as the issue continued.

As of 7:40 PM IST, the platform showed that over 40,000 users had reported issues with X during the peak of the outage.

The company did not immediately comment on the cause of the disruption.

This is not the first time X has faced such major outages. In March 2025, the platform saw repeated disruptions. on March 10, 2025, Elon Musk said the outage was due to a “massive cyberattack.” Later, X again faced a brief but big outage on March 28, 2025, when Downdetector logged tens of thousands of reports in the US.
