Ather Energy partners with Tata Indian Institute of Skills to support India's EV workforce skilling

Bengaluur-based electric scooter maker Ather Energy has partnered with Tata Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) to offer specialized training programs in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

The partnership aims to develop a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of the Indian EV market. 

The partnership will combine Ather Energy's industry expertise with Tata IIS's dedication to skill development, providing comprehensive courses in EV technology and battery specialization.

Addressing the skill gap

The rapid growth of India's EV sector is driven by technological advancements and rising consumer adoption. Despite this growth, a significant skill gap remains. According to a recent study, there is a shortage of technicians trained specifically in electric vehicle systems and battery technologies.

The partnership seeks to address this gap by offering extensive training that includes both technical knowledge and practical experience.

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO of Ather Energy, highlighted, "While the industry is addressing this challenge effectively, the need for a skilled workforce is also increasing."

What will the training programs include?

Ather Energy will be responsible for creating programs that equip trainees with technical knowledge in battery systems, electric motors, power electronics, charging infrastructure, and vehicle safety.

Trainees will also gain practical experience in EV maintenance, repair, and diagnostics, along with essential soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

To support these programs, Ather Energy will provide vehicles, motors, batteries, and other essential hardware to establish EV labs at Tata IIS facilities across the country.

Additionally, Ather Energy will train Tata IIS instructors at its manufacturing plants and R&D labs, ensuring the course content stays relevant to industry trends and technological advancements.
