Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup Bounce Infinity has introduced a new variant of its popular Infinity E1 scooter, the Bounce Infinity E1X.
The startup said the new vehicle will be released nationwide in June 2024. It will be priced between Rs 55,000 and Rs 59,000 and feature a battery-swappable design.
The E1X aims to enhance user convenience by being compatible with major battery-swapping networks across India.
Features of the E1X
The standout feature of the Bounce Infinity E1X is its battery-swapping capability, allowing users to replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones at various network stations. This innovation eliminates the need for lengthy charging stops.
The scooter is available in two-speed variants, with top speeds of 55 kmph and 65 kmph.
Additionally, Bounce Infinity is developing a faster variant with a top speed of 92 kmph to cater to export markets. The E1X requires minimal modifications to integrate with different battery-swapping networks.
Understanding the battery swapping system
The E1X's battery-swapping system is designed for ease and efficiency. Users traveling long distances can swap batteries at network stations, ensuring continuous travel without downtime.
The E1X's compatibility with all major battery-swapping networks and potential for customization make it a versatile choice.
The running cost is notably low, with an energy cost ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 per km, depending on usage and the swapping operator.
Aiming to capitalize on India's vast EV market
Bounce Infinity aims to capitalize on India's vast electric vehicle market, which is the world’s second-largest two-wheeler market.
CEO and Co-founder Vivekananda Hallekare highlighted the potential benefits of electric vehicles in India, emphasizing innovation and affordability through separating battery costs from vehicle costs.
"India is the world’s second-largest two-wheeler market, yet the true benefits of EVs haven’t been leveraged fully," he said.
Future plans and strategic partnerships
Bounce Infinity has strategic plans to deploy over 30,000 EVs in key Indian markets through a partnership with Sun Mobility.
The initial rollout will begin in Bangalore and Hyderabad, followed by expansions into Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi NCR. The company is also negotiating with major food delivery, quick commerce, and last-mile delivery companies to further extend its market reach.
Additionally, Bounce Infinity recently reduced the price of its E1+ range by 21%, aiming to make electric scooters more accessible.
