Bengaluru-based EV startup Ultraviolette Automotive has recently elevated Vinayak Bhat to the role of Chief Product Officer (CPO). 

The strategic move comes as Ultraviolette aims to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets.

Vinayak Bhat, who has been with the company since 2017, brings a wealth of experience in aerospace and electric mobility, making him a key asset in the company’s pursuit of innovation and market leadership.

In his new role as CPO, Bhat will oversee the entire product lifecycle at Ultraviolette, from the initial concept and design phases through to market introduction.

His responsibilities will include expanding the company’s product portfolio, with a particular focus on vertical integration across critical components such as battery technology, drivetrain, and vehicle architecture. Bhat's goal is to establish new industry standards and reinforce Ultraviolette’s position as a global leader in high-performance electric vehicles.

My goal is to craft exceptional products for global markets through our strategy of vertical integration – Specifically  across critical elements like the battery technology, drivetrain and vehicle architecture. Our aim: redefine standards and solidify Ultraviolette’s position as a global leader in electric mobility," Bhat said.

Bhat's prior role

Before his promotion, Vinayak Bhat served as the Technical Director and Principal Engineer at Ultraviolette.

During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the development of key projects, including the F77 Mach 2 and the F99 Racing Platform. His work involved coordinating various aspects of product development, engineering, operations, and manufacturing. 

Vinayak Bhat’s extensive background in engineering, particularly in the aerospace industry, has provided him with a unique perspective that he brings to his role at Ultraviolette.

He began his career as a structural engineer at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2013, where he gained valuable experience in complex engineering projects.

Later, as a design analyst at Safran Engineering, Bhat contributed to major projects for industry giants like Airbus and Boeing, focusing on critical components such as landing gears and fuselage parts.

Speaking on Vinayak’s new role, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-Founder, Ultraviolette, said, “Vinayak’s in-depth understanding of aerospace and electric vehicle technologies provides him with a unique perspective that will be critical in driving our culture of innovation. His leadership was instrumental in the successful launch of our flagship products – the F77 and the F77 Mach 2.
