EV maker Ather Energy has introduced 'Rizta,' its inaugural scooter designed for families. The scooter, which starts from Rs 1,09,999, was unveiled during Ather's Community Day event in Bengaluru.
The 'Rizta' scooter, which has been in development since 2019, is designed for strength, safety, and comfort. The 'Rizta' starts with two models and three variants, with prices extending up to Rs 1,45,000 for the top-end variant.
Design and features
With its curvy style and larger seating for enhanced passenger comfort, 'Rizta' distinguishes itself from Ather's previous models. The scooter is available in five dual-tone colours; it incorporates significant storage solutions, including a 34-litre under-seat compartment and a 22-litre 'frunk.'
Technology-wise, the scooter is equipped with Ather's latest Stack 6 technology, featuring smart eco and zip modes, smartphone connectivity, and a TFT digital instrument console.
Performance and safety
The 'Rizta' promises brisk acceleration and commendable range options, varying between 105 km to 125 km, depending on the battery pack chosen.
It maintains Ather's reputation for safety and innovation with features like skid control, emergency stop signal, and a connected helmet series named 'Halo' equipped with music, voice calls, and wireless charging capabilities.
Pre-booking details
Ather Energy aims to compete with established electric scooters such as TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. With 'Rizta,' it has positioned itself as a family-friendly option.
Pre-bookings are open at an introductory price of Rs 999, with deliveries expected to commence in July. The launch comes at a crucial time as Ather Energy prepares for its initial public offering (IPO), with the company experiencing substantial growth in sales and operational revenue.
Backing from notable investors
Founded in 2013 by IIT Madras graduates Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather Energy has raised over $450 million in funding from investors, including HeroMotoCorp, Herald Ventures, InnoVen Capital, NIIF, Caladium Investments, and Sachin Bansal (Co-founder of Flipkart, Navi), among others.
