Explosion occurred at popular Rameshwaram Cafe

At least five people were injured following an explosion at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe in the Whitefield area of Bengaluru on Friday afternoon.

The injured, including one woman, were transported to a nearby hospital, according to media reports. The explosion occurred at the bustling cafe, situated in east Bengaluru, around 1:30 PM during the busy lunch hour, a time when crowds from nearby offices typically gather.

“We received a call about a cylinder blast in Rameshwaram cafe. Immediately, a fire engine was rushed to the spot. Initial suspicions are that it is a cylinder blast. However, it is being ascertained. It is a minor blast, and we have shifted those injured to the hospital. The incident occurred between 1.30 and 2 pm. We are probing it from all angles,” police told PTI.

Rameshwaram Cafe does Rs 4.5 crore business a month

The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru has become a remarkable success story, earning Rs 4.5 crore every month, which totals to more than Rs 50 crore annually. The cafe is known for its traditional South Indian breakfast offerings, such as ghee podi idli and masala dosa.

The founders, Divya and Raghavendra Rao, started the first branch in Indiranagar in 2021. Divya, an IIM Ahmedabad post-graduate and a Chartered Accountant, and Raghavendra, with over 15 years of experience in the food industry, met through a mutual friend.

The founders are also focused on introducing more innovative and healthy dishes.
