Flipkart appoints Ramesh Gururaja

Walmart-owned ecommerce giant Flipkart, which competes with Amazon India, has appointed Ramesh Gururaja as the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Consumer Products.

The latest appointment is part of Flipkart's strategy to consolidate its leadership and streamline operations, following a series of senior-level departures earlier this year.

Gururaja, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in leading consumer products, will report directly to Jeyandran Venugopal, Flipkart's Chief Product and Technology Officer.

Gururaja brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Flipkart. He previously served as the Chief Product Officer and Head of the Shared Consumer Platform at Tokopedia, an Indonesian e-commerce giant.

Before his tenure at Tokopedia, Gururaja held senior positions at Amazon and spent over 16 years at Microsoft in various managerial roles.

His career has been marked by significant contributions to mobile-first product development and the successful launch of customer-facing products across different platforms.

In his new position, Gururaja will take on responsibilities previously managed by Anand Lakshminarayanan and Bharath Ram, who both left Flipkart earlier this year.

Flipkart’s ongoing leadership restructuring

Gururaja's appointment is not an isolated event but part of a broader leadership restructuring at Flipkart. The company has been recalibrating its executive ranks following multiple high-profile exits.

Earlier this year, four Senior Vice Presidents, including the heads of Cleartrip, Marketplace and Categories, Fintech and Payments, and Growth and Retention, left the company.

Additionally, Flipkart recently expanded the role of Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha to include leadership of Flipkart Fashion, further consolidating its operations.
