Swiggy appoints Supriya Shankar

Bengaluru-based food delivery company Swiggy has named Supriya Shankar as its Vice President of Events and Experience.

Shankar, who brings 14 years of expertise across leading roles at Lenskart, OYO, Zomato, and Airtel, aims to expand Swiggy's experiential offerings, including its live events platform, SteppinOut.

Shankar said, "I look forward to contributing to a culture that values creativity and purposeful scaling, and I’m excited about the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams across the organization and partners nationwide."

Shankar's previous role as CEO for Singapore and Senior Vice President of Growth at Lenskart highlighted her ability to scale businesses.

With leadership experience in marketing, operations, and P&L management, her appointment signals Swiggy's focus on diversifying into lifestyle-oriented experiences.

At Swiggy, Shankar will oversee the integration of ticketing, events, and curated experiences under the SteppinOut brand.

Her leadership comes at a pivotal time for Swiggy as rival Zomato also seeks to extend its lifestyle service offerings with the impending launch of its dining-out app, District.

Leadership moves amid IPO milestone

The announcement is part of a broader restructuring for Swiggy, which recently debuted its shares at Rs 420 on the National Stock Exchange, an 8% premium to its IPO price of Rs 390.

Swiggy also welcomed Shalabh Shrivastava, a former Flipkart executive, as Senior Vice President of Driver Organisation, and Hari Kumar G as Chief Business Officer of Instamart, its quick-commerce segment.

The leadership additions are expected to fuel growth in Swiggy's core food delivery and events services.
