Card no more require for transaction from ATM

NCR Corporation, manufacturer of automated teller machines (ATMs) said that it has announced that an individual can withdraw money from ATM without a card, transactions can be done through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform. As of now only City Union Bank has partnered with NCR Corporation and ordered to install the upgraded ATM in all the branches across the country. This will enable customers to withdraw money and customers will get rid of from habit of carrying the card. The bank has already made its 1,500 ATMs compatible with QR code-based interoperable cardless cash withdrawal facility.

"This a forward step from using UPI app on the mobile phone to an ATM but sans any cards, Navroze Dastur, managing director for India and regional vice-president for South East Asia at NCR Corporation, told PTI.

"We have partnered with NCR to deliver ICCW solution that will enable us to deliver this next-generation solution to our customers which will allow them card-less cash withdrawal using UPI QR code at our ATMs," N Kamakodi, managing director of City Union Bank told PTI.

How can a person withdraw cash from ATM without using a card?

Step 1: To enjoy this service at ATM, an individual requires to open an account on a platform which supports UPI app like Google Pay, Bhim, Phonepe, Amazon, Paytm, among others on the smartphone.

Step 2: If an individual has an account on the UPI app, then simply scan the barcode pop-up on the ATM screen.

Step 3: After this, the customer needs to enter the amount of money that needs to be withdrawn.

Step 4: Once you are done with the process, you need to enter your 4 or 6 digit UPI pin, and after this, you will be able to withdraw cash from ATM.
