Former OYO CFO Abhishek Gupta joins Peyush Bansal-led Lenskart

Abhishek Gupta, the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of hospitality giant OYO, has taken on a new role as the CFO of Peyush Bansal-led Lenskart.

Gupta announced the development on his LinkedIn profile on October 22, expressing his gratitude to the OYO team and its founder Ritesh Agarwal for the trust and friendship over the years.

"Career Update - After 9 amazing years at OYO, I have recently joined Lenskart.com as the CFO. Thank you Ritesh and the entire team of OYO for the trust and friendship. From one rocket ship to another!" he wrote.

His new position at Lenskart comes shortly after the departure of the company’s previous CFO, Mukti Hariharan, who stepped down in September to join Coca-Cola.

Abhishek Gupta's tenure at OYO

Gupta’s association with OYO began in June 2015. During his nine-year stint with the company, he played a crucial role in its financial growth, overseeing fundraising, investor relations, and the treasury and controllership functions.

His contribution was particularly significant as OYO navigated major developments, including preparing for its IPO. His departure was announced in December 2023 when Rakesh Kumar, who had been with the company for over six years, was promoted to group CFO.

Transition from OYO to Lenskart

After leaving OYO in March 2024, Gupta officially joined Lenskart in August, according to his LinkedIn profile. At Lenskart, Gupta is tasked with driving the company’s financial strategy and enhancing corporate governance.

His expertise in long-term strategic planning and financial management will be crucial as Lenskart expands its market presence.

Gupta replaces Mukti Hariharan, who had only been with Lenskart for a few months before her departure to Coca-Cola India.

Mukti Hariharan’s exit

Mukti Hariharan, the former CFO of Lenskart, left the company in September 2024 after leading it through key milestones, including a $200 million funding round in June.

Hariharan, who joined Lenskart in April 2023, expressed her pride in the high-performance team she built during her time with the company. She has now moved on to Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, where she serves as the Vice President of Finance.

Gupta’s professional background and vision for Lenskart

Apart from OYO, Gupta has worked at Philips and GE. An MBA graduate from Harvard University and the Indian School of Business, Gupta has consistently demonstrated his financial acumen in managing large-scale operations.

At Lenskart, his responsibilities will focus on long-term planning, financial governance, and driving the company’s continued growth in the competitive eyewear industry.
