Getepay, a digital payments and merchant services platform, has received final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to function as an Online Payment Aggregator (PA) under the central bank’s regulatory framework. Getepay says the approval makes it the first fintech firm from Rajasthan to secure this license.

The firm claims that it has onboarded over 1.5 million merchants since its inception, serving a broad range of businesses including Kirana shops, e-commerce stores, education institutions, service providers, and small manufacturers.

With a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the platform offers simplified digital payment solutions aimed at improving access and security.

Focused on expanding presence

With the RBI licence now in hand, the company plans to expand nationally, strengthen its product offerings, and bring more small businesses, particularly from Tier 2, Tier 3, and rural areas, onto its unified digital commerce platform.

“This is more than just a regulatory milestone; it’s a validation of our unwavering commitment to building a truly inclusive digital economy," said Pravin Sharma, Founder and CEO of Getepay.

"We started Getepay with the belief that every small merchant in India, whether in a remote village or a bustling city, deserves access to simple, secure, and scalable digital tools. With this RBI licence, we are now ready to deepen that impact, scale across Bharat, and empower MSMEs with not just payments but complete commerce enablement," Sharma added.

Angel investor Mahavir Pratap Sharma added, “Getepay isn’t just another FinTech — it’s grounded in Bharat and solving real, structural problems. The RBI licence reinforces their credibility, and I believe Getepay is poised to become a key force in reshaping how small merchants participate in India’s digital economy.”

Strategic priorities

1. Merchant Enablement: Expansion of services to include digital storefronts, inventory tools, GST billing, and business management solutions tailored for grassroots entrepreneurs.

2. MSME Formalisation: Plans to support the digital formalisation of over 10 million micro and small businesses, potentially contributing to broader GDP growth from the informal sector.

3. Job Creation: The growth of agent networks and support teams is expected to generate significant employment, both directly and indirectly, across the country.

4. Inclusive Growth: The platform aims to support women-led businesses, rural entrepreneurs, and micro-merchants by enhancing access to digital financial services.

5. Technology Adaptation: Built for low-bandwidth regions, the platform is language-agnostic, mobile-first, and lightweight to ensure broader accessibility.
